Novel exhibit where two light weight toy planes suspended from roof, get powered up by a powerful Light source from below, energizes itself and moves forward!
Background
Two solar toy planes are suspended from top of roof with a bearing at center (like a fan) and both planes have Solar panels below, which power up a small motor connected to the propeller.
A powerful light source from below when illuminated, produces power in these solar panels, which in turn runs the motor. This rotates the propeller, whose force moves the plane forward! Demonstrates a theoretical model of Energy transfer through light!
Deenabandhu Trust, Chamarajanagar, Karnataka
This project was developed for an NGO which is into building Scientific Exhibitions, Museums and upgrade Science Demonstration infrastructure in schools called Deenabandhu. As part of an Energy themed museum they were setting up this exhibit was developed by Ideas Unlimited, Mysuru.
Deenabandhu is a charitable Non-Profit Organization located in Chamarajnagar. Deenabandhu works towards the education and rehabilitation of orphan, destitute and estranged children. The trust is also into Science, innovation and teaching Science to school children and other activities.

Solar/Light powered toy plane exhibit demonstration in Kannada
Solar/Light powered toy plane, demonstrates light based energy transfer! Now installed at an Energy related Exhibhition/Museum.
Ultra light weight plane model fabricated in balsa wood with openings required!
Wiring on top side for the toy plane between panels and motor
Solar panels at bottom of the plane's wings!
Fabricated plane mounted from ceiling for trials!
Two Solar Toy Plane (finished) being tested with two light sources!
Overall, this exhibit shows a novel way of wireless energy transfer using high intensity light! Need to explore the practical applications of such energy transfer further!
