Android based Monitor for Neonatal Ultrasound Simulator
As part of a "Neonatal ultrasound simulator product" (SIMBU), we developed an Android based sophisticated software which simulates the ultrasound machine used in hospitals, with a host of training features!

Background

Our lab developed technology required for a state of the art Neonatal Ultrasound Simulator, that is used to train and provide hands on training for Doctors pursuing Neonatal practice.

In Neonatal domain, Ultrasound probe is used daily on neonates to asses growth, and several health parameters of the just-born or prematurely born babies. SIMBU (Simulator Baby for Ultraound) was developed for Neoscan Healthcare, a startup founded by a group of Senior Neonatal professionals.

The system had two parts, a physical plastic baby with sensors and hardware rigged to sense the probe, and a state of the art User Interface software on an Android tablet that doubles up as its Ultrasound monitor. The software not just mimics the Ultrasound simulator, but doubles up as a specialized training Simulator with several training specific features.

User Interface of the SIMBU - Neonatal Ultrasound Simulator.

The software connects to the hardware on the Baby's body through USB OTG connection and acquires data in real time from the sensor rigged in the Simulator Baby's body.

The touch screen UI can also respond to buttons pressed on the baby's bed as well as touch screen regular usage.
